Tell me a better and more rejuvenating experience than a relaxing spa session and I’ll wait! *still waiting* Wherever you go, whatever you do, a spa session will be waiting right there for you! Be it a monthly self-pampering sesh or a vacation essential, spa time is undeniably something we crave for,
But did you know that when it comes to summers and the scorching heat outside, a spa sesh is more so essential? Well, it does lower us into a meditative state and reduces stress. And it is really refreshing. But, but, but, there are certain dos and don’ts of it. To know more about it, I had an email exchange with Mr. Manoj Thapa, General Manager, Hotel The Royal Plaza.
Mr Thapa weighed in on it and graciously listed out what mistakes one should avoid before a spa session and even what are the important things to keep in mind, this summer.

Overheating
While saunas, steam rooms, and hot tubs may be alluring, you should exercise caution while spending an excessive amount of time in hot places during the summer. Dehydration or hyperthermia can result from prolonged exposure to the heat. When taking pauses, pay attention to what your body needs.
Ignoring your skin’s needs:
The summer sun may be tough on your skin, so you should be aware of what it requires. Avoid using strong treatments or severe exfoliating that could remove vital oils. To keep your skin hydrated and radiant, choose nourishing and moisturising treatments.
Neglecting after-spa care:

Keep caring for your body and skin after your spa visit. To extend the advantages of your spa treatments, moisturise your skin frequently, shield it from the sun, and follow a healthy skincare regimen.
Skipping the pre-spa routine:
While it’s important to feel calm when you arrive at the spa, avoid engaging in strenuous exercise or having large meals just before your session. To thoroughly appreciate the experience, give yourself some time to unwind before your appointment.
Underestimating the influence of relaxation:

It’s simple to ignore the value of rest in the flurry of summer activities. Use this chance to completely unwind, let go of your worries, and enjoy the tranquillity of the spa. Allowing yourself to fully immerse in the experience will allow you to experience both physical and mental renewal.
Staying well-hydrated is essential in hot temperatures. To avoid dehydration and maximise the effects of your treatments, drink a lot of water before and after your spa visit.
Sun protection:
Use sunscreen with a high SPF to save your skin from the sun’s harmful rays if you intend to spend time outdoors before or after your spa visit. It’s a good habit to protect your skin from the sun as much as you can, even if you aren’t immediately exposed to it.
Select treatments that are suited for the weather:

Decide on treatments that are appropriate for the summertime. You may beat the heat and feel energised by getting refreshing treatments like facials, body cleanses, or massages with cooling lotions or essential oils.
Utilise the water facilities available:
Many spas contain swimming pools, jacuzzis, or hydrotherapy spaces. These can be especially tempting when it’s sweltering outside. Spend some time in the water features, if they are available, to cool off and improve your entire spa experience.
Keep an eye on summer promotions or packages:
Spas frequently offer seasonal promotions or packages over the summer, so keep an eye out for such. Keep a look out for limited-time offers that can offer additional savings or customised treatments with a summer theme.
By following these suggestions and avoiding typical blunders, you may get the most out of your spa visit this summer and have a relaxing and rejuvenating experience.
