5 Stereotypes I Hear Daily As A Female Traveller And Here’s Why You Should Stop!

Female Traveller

Travelling has always been my passion. My love for travelling prompted me to start Curly Tales, which is India’s biggest travel and food platform now. So far, I have travelled to more than a hundred Indian and international destinations. And to many of them, I have travelled solo. I do have a family, a child and a pile of responsibilities as an entrepreneur, but at the end of the day, I am an independent woman. And my travel decisions are independent too. The key to managing everything while trotting the globe is striking a balance. Having said that, not every people appreciate your success, some throw up weird questions too. Here are 5 stereotypes I keep hearing as a female traveller but I am happy to break them all!

1. What About Marriage And Kids?

Marriage is a beautiful bond between two people and having kids is a blessing. But why should marriage stop you from travelling? In fact, by taking up travelling as a full-time job, I am financially contributing to my family. Travelling has taught me a lot of things. I have gained knowledge about places, cultures and over time, have aced the art of multitasking too. At times, I even work while travelling.  And as a mother, I want my child to be independent, like me. So by travelling independently, I am instilling self-sufficiency into my daughter.

2 Your Family Is Okay With You Travelling?

Of course, yes! In fact, they are highly supportive of my passions and are absolutely proud of what I do.

3. How Does Your Husband Allow You To Travel So Much?

Why should I need my husband’s permission to travel? I am capable of making my own decisions.

4. Don’t You Feel Unsafe?

I travel taking the needed precautionary measures. And the locals in many places within and outside India have been very welcoming. They have made to feel warm. In the nook and cranny of the world, I have found many homes away from home.

5. Why Don’t You Slow Down For A While?

Because I want to live my life to the fullest. Taking inspiration from Ranbir Kapoor a.k.a Bunny in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Main udna chahti hoon, daudna chahti hoon, girna bhi chahta hoon … bus rukna nahi chahti.”
