1. Echo by the White Desert, Antarctica
Camp in Antarctica, run by the White Desert, truly lives up to its reputation as the world’s most remote luxury camp. It has unique access to the rarely viewed White Continent interior. Echo is inspired by astronauts and the historic era of space exploration.
How to get there: Echo by White Desert offers a 5-hour trip from Cape Town, South Africa, to the Antarctic Circle. This is by hopping on the Gulfstream G550 or Airbus A340. Staff members accompany guests on a breathtaking descent to White Desert’s blue ice runway, Wolf’s Fang runway. Following their landing on the ice, visitors are driven for a 15-minute ride by an Arctic truck to Echo Camp.
2. Miavana by Time + Tide, Madagascar
Situated on the isolated island of Nosy Ankao, lies the ultra-luxurious hotel Miavana by Time + Tide. It is a part of a five-island archipelago off the northeast coast of Madagascar. Only 14 one-, two-, and three-bedroom villas make up Miavana. It is surrounded by colorful coral reefs and the breathtaking marine life of the Indian Ocean. The villas are located along the island’s western, pure white beaches.
How to get there: Only two airports in northern Madagascar provide private helicopter access to Miavana by Time + Tide. They are Nosy Be airport and Diego Suarez airport.

3. Fogo Island Inn, Canada
The Fogo Island Inn is situated on the untamed shores of the North Atlantic Ocean, at one of the four corners of the globe, in a region with seven distinct seasons, off the northeast coast of Newfoundland, Canada. All 29 of the suites at this secluded hotel have floor-to-ceiling views of the sea and sky since they are perched on stilts.
How to get there: Gander, Newfoundland, has the nearest international airport to Fogo Island Inn. Renting a car from Gander takes three hours, with a 45-minute vehicle ferry ride.
4. Ultima Thule Alaska Lodge, USA
In the heart of the world’s largest protected area, Wrangell-St. Elias National Park in Alaska, is where paradise is located. Immersed in nature, steeped in luxury, and centred on adventure, this is a must-visit. Ultima Thule Lodge is perhaps the most remote lodge in the Americas, situated a hundred miles from paved highways.
How to get there: The largest city in Alaska, Anchorage, is six hours’ drive away from Chitina. From the airfield, it takes 90 minutes to get to the lodge.
5. Nimmo Bay Wilderness Resort, British Columbia
When you land by helicopter at the upscale Nimmo Bay Hotel, the first thing you’ll see is a ring of snow-capped mountain. You can see them meeting the shores of a broad, serene bay, surrounded by remote coastal rainforests that stretch as far as the eye. At the base of a tumbling waterfall, two cedar hot tubs steam away at the main lodge, which practically floats on the bay.
How to get there: From Port Hardy, on the isolated northern tip of Vancouver Island, it takes 20 minutes by helicopter or float plane to reach the resort. The latter can be reached by an eight-hour voyage. You can also reach by a one-hour light aircraft flight, or a combined ferry and road trip from Vancouver.
6. Wildflower Hall, Shimla
At 8,250 feet above sea level, the Oberoi Resort Wildflower Hall in Shimla, the Himalayas, actually takes luxury to a new level. With a tranquil, neutral color scheme complemented by Burmese teak paneling, warm fireplaces, and oriental rugs, the 85 rooms are designed to blend in with the surrounding natural environment. The restaurants include hand-carved woodwork, roaring fires, and wide terraces paired with regional specialties.
How to get there: Take a scenic and adventuruous 45 minutes drive from Shimla, the main town to this place.
