The problems that ant infestations pose to our homes are well known. Especially if you spot some in your kitchen, the unhygienic conditions will likely startle you. There are 12,000 varieties of ants, and each one of them causes a different kind of trouble. While some contaminate food, others destroy building materials. Some are even known to bite humans. These tiny insects are more likely to take over our house during the summer season. If that is something you are struggling with right now, it is time to take charge and clean your house. Here is how you can get rid of ants using kitchen items:
How To Get Rid Of Ants Naturally
1. Aromatic Herbs
Ants are generally repelled by strong fragrances, and aromatic herbs can work well to drive them away from your home. Herbs like mint or bay leaves will prove to be really effective.
2. Corn Flour
Ants cannot digest cornflour, and that makes it a perfect choice to get rid of them. When you put some in their way, they will either try to eat it then and there or they will carry some to their nests. When they eventually try to eat some, they are known to succumb to death.
3. Vinegar
The strong scent of vinegar not only repels ants, but it can also be poisonous to them. Rub the infected surface with vinegar and water solution to kill the existing ants in your house. The lingering smell of this solution will also keep future insects at bay.

4. Pepper
The scent of pepper can be irritating for humans and even more so for ants. Their strong incense can prove to be a great remedy against these insects. To get rid of them, grind some pepper and spread it around your house, especially behind furniture or appliances.
5. Lemon
D-limonene extract, found in citrus fruits like lemons and oranges, can be toxic to ants. Put some lemon peels into a jar of water for a few days, and once the water changes colour, use it to wipe the infected surface. As a bonus, it will give your house a hint of refreshing and citrusy scent.
6. Table Salt
One of the cheapest home remedies to get rid of ants is salt. Simply boil a hefty amount of salt in some water until it dissolves, and spray some on the surface of the ant infestation.
