The Railway Ministry stated that as of September 14, 2024, Vande Bharat has a fleet of 54 trains (108 services). The train had performed around 36,000 journeys and carried over 3.17 crore people. Presently, it is the first semi-high-speed train in India to be conceived and built domestically, showcasing the country’s engineering capabilities.

Each Vande Bharat train is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and with premium travel experience. These amenities include onboard Wi-Fi, ergonomic seating, improved air conditioning, and enhanced safety measures such as automatic doors and GPS-based information systems. They are a key component of India’s push towards modernising its rail infrastructure.  The original Vande Bharat train set has recently been replaced with Vande Bharat 2.0. The train contains even more sophisticated features like WiFi, Kavach, quick acceleration, and an anti-virus system.

As the fleet expands, it further cements the train’s role in transforming India’s railways into a world-class travel system. So, have you travelled by this train yet?
