With the holy month of Ramadan underway, people are trying to do their best to give back to society and make sure that everybody has a blessed month. Recently, keeping up with this ideology, the UAE Food Bank launched the ‘United In Giving’ initiative. With the aim of providing 7 million meals to the people in need during the month of Ramadan, here’s all you need to know about this noble initiative.
‘United In Giving’ Initiative Launched In The UAE
The UAE Food Bank recently launched the ‘United In Giving’ initiative. With three key sub initiatives, the aim is to ensure that 7 million meals are distributed during the month of Ramadan. In fact, there are three key sub initiatives that are as follows:
- Blessings Baskets
This features distribution of more than 200,000 daily in the form of four donations, surplus meals, and parcels. - Zabeel Iftar
This initiative provides Iftar meals for more than 3,000 workers. - Surplus Of Goods
This is an awareness programme that educates the community about innovative and sustainable ways to refurbish surplus food.
Coming to the ‘Blessings Baskets’ meals, these will be connected through the food donations and parcels from food establishments, manufacturers, retail stores, and even suppliers. Yes, surplus cooked and uncooked food from hotels, corporate donors, restaurants, and individuals will also be gathered so that it can be distributed to the beneficiaries.
More About The Initiative
As revealed in a report by Khaleej Times, charitable organisations and private and public sector partners are coordinating to carry out this process. This is being done to ensure that food reaches those in need. Finally, the last of the program is a surplus of good six collaboration between UAE Food Bank and Fatafeat TV. Together, they aim to promote creative and sustainable methods of processing surplus food.
The move falls under Mohammed bin Rashid Maktoum Global Initiatives and it aims to promote the production of waste, sustainable food management, and the encouragement of community participation in charitable efforts. In fact, these initiatives also support the UAE Food Bank’s strategic plan for 2023-2027, which focuses on launching humanitarian programs, advancing national strategies, and minimising food waste through collective action.
