Dressing appropriately is quite important in Dubai. Yes, you must be careful about what you wear in the city. This means, that the type of dress you wear changes from the setting you are in. So for instance, if you are in the mall, make sure to dress in casual but appropriate clothes.

While if you are at the beach or beach clubs, you can wear swimwear, however, you will need to cover up if you visit the cafe across from the beach. In fact, at cultural institutions and mosques, you must wear opaque clothes that cover the head, arms, and knees. And, women must carry a scarf so that they can drape it over their bare shoulders if required. So, make sure that you follow these rules as you venture out to explore the beautiful sites in Dubai.

It is frowned upon to show public display of affection and several people have already been arrested for kissing in public. So, there’s no harm in maintaining public decency, as it is disrespectful to the local culture and not mindful.

5. Embrace The Diverse Culture

Dubai is a melting pot of cultures with people from different nations living together in harmony. So, one must keep an open mind to embrace the city’s diversity. It’s common to hear people speaking in different languages and a variety of accents, however, these cultural differences show us to be respectful towards people of different backgrounds. So, you might want to be patient if you can’t understand someone’s English or find their hand gestures a bit amusing. It’s definitely demure and mindful to resist smirking or responding with sarcasm in such cases.

6. Be Respectful While Visiting An Emirati Home

However, when you are invited as a guest, make sure to take a small gift of dates, sweets, or nuts there. And, you must steer clear of alcohol as it is forbidden in Islam! You must dress appropriately in modest clothes when invited for such special occasions, as it’s only fair that you show them the respect they are showing you by inviting you into their sacred space.

7. Do Not Dry Your Clothes In The Balcony Of Your Hotel Room

Sometimes, it can be quite difficult to dry small clothes after you wash them. If you don’t wish to give your clothes for laundry, you can wash your clothes in the bathroom. However, make sure to dry them in the laundry room that’s provided in almost every hotel room. You must not hang your clothes in the balcony of your room as it is unaesthetic and against the advice of the Dubai Municipality. It takes away from the aesthetic appeal of the city, which is definitely not mindful.

So, if you are also planning to visit Dubai, make sure to be demure and mindful as to risk visiting the city. After all, every culture deserves respect.
