In a world where age often signals a time to slow down, for certain individuals, age doesn’t seem to be a stopping factor. 79-year-old Filipino American traveller Luisa Yu, accomplished a tremendous feat by travelling to 193 nations during the previous 50 years, fulfilling her longtime desire of seeing the world.
79-YO Globetrotter Has Travelled The World
With a twinkle in her eye and a zest for life that belies her age, Luisa Yu is a living testament to the idea that age is just a number. Luisa Yu has fulfilled her dream of exploring the world by visiting 193 countries during the last 50 years. Filipino American globetrotter has always wanted to travel since she was a little girl. As a child, she would listen wide-eyed to stories of far-off lands, dreaming of the day she would set foot on distant shores herself.
Ms. Yu arrived in the United States as an exchange student at the age of 23 and began her travels within the country because of her position. She used to travel by Greyhound bus, seeing several states and enjoying the thrill of waking up in a new spot the next day.
But it wasn’t long before Luisa’s restless spirit called her to venture beyond the borders of the United States. After leaving a job in medical technology to work as a travel agent, she was looking for more freedom to follow her desire to travel. She travelled to countries in Europe, and Asia, including Thailand, Africa, Libya, and the Middle East, including Iran, over the years she has been travelling.

She Has Visited All Of 193 Countries
As the years passed, Luisa’s passion for travel only grew stronger. With a well-worn passport and a wealth of stories to tell, she crisscrossed the globe with the energy and enthusiasm of someone half her age.
But for Luisa, travel was never just about ticking destinations off a bucket list. It was about immersing herself in new cultures, forging connections with people from all walks of life, and expanding her horizons in ways she never thought possible. Despite possible risks in some places, Ms. Yu decided to go to all 193 UN members to experience the historical and cultural value of various places. On November 9, 2023, in Serbia, Ms. Yu achieved her lofty ambition, and her fans warmly welcomed her.
Now, at 79 years old, Luisa shows no signs of slowing down!
