Bengaluru is usually known as the tech hub of India. But did you know this city is also popular for supplying high-quality flowers to various states and countries across the world? In fact, as per International Flower Auction Bengaluru (IFAB), Bengaluru has been auctioning or selling an average of 4-5 lakh exotic roses every day since February 1 this year. The numbers reached a peak of 9.2 lakh on Monday – thanks to Valentine’s Day and the ongoing wedding season.
Red & Pastel Roses From Bengaluru, With Love
International Flower Auction Bengaluru (IFAB) is a platform that brings sellers and buyers together to host auctions of high-quality cut flowers every day. As per the recent data released by IFAB, an average of 4-5 lakh stemmed exotic roses were sold/auctioned from Bengaluru every day since February 1. And these are just the numbers of the Indian market. They haven’t released the number of flowers auctioned in the international market yet. However, the Netherlands remains the highest consumer of Bengaluru roses. They are followed by Malaysia and Singapore.
On Monday, they recorded the highest daily tally for the Indian market. They recorded sales of around 9.2 lakh stemmed roses in the domestic market on February 12. As on February 13, a sale of 8 lakh roses was recorded in the Bengaluru market itself! The main reason for these high numbers is mainly due to Valentine’s Day popping in the middle of a fully-packed wedding season in India. While red roses are being favoured for Valentine’s Day celebrations, pastel-hued ones are preferred for the wedding market this season.
