Roads in Dubai are in top-notch condition, and a major reason for this is the fact that the authority is working hard to ensure that people in the emirate get access to good infrastructure. Recently, in line with the directives of the leadership, an AED786 million project was approved. Yes, this is being undertaken as part of an agreement with Dubai Holding. Here’s all you need to know about the upcoming bridge that will connect the Dubai Islands from the Bur Dubai side.

A New Bridge To Come In Bur Dubai

The Dubai RTA has awarded a contract for constructing direct access from Bur Dubai to the Dubai Islands. The aim of this project is to address the demand of urban and demographic growth. It includes the construction of a bridge that spans 1,425 m and features four lanes in each direction. Costing about AED786 million, the bridge will have a total capacity of 16,000 vehicles per hour in both directions. As it happens, it will be rising 18.5 m above the surface of the Dubai Creek. Yes, with the navigation channels being 75 m wide, it will allow several types of vessels to pass through the creek.

At this point, it’s worth mentioning that this access forms a part of the AlShindagha Corridor Development Project. This project involves the development of 15 intersections on a 13 km stretch. Not to mention, it will serve both Bur Dubai and Deira residents. In fact, other key developments, such as those in the DeiraWaterfront, Dubai Maritime City, Port Rashid, and Dubai Islands, will also benefit from this. With the development of the corridor, travel time will reduce to just 16 minutes from the existing 104 minutes. This sounds quite amazing, doesn’t it?
