Due to heavy rainfall and flooding caused by the Yamuna River, Delhi is currently facing an unprecedented flood-like situation. Amongst many other places, Delhi’s Red Fort was also one of the places to get submerged in the ongoing floods caused by Yamuna. But wait, is this how it was meant to be? At least that’s what Netizens thought after photos of a Mughal Era painting went viral.

According to NDTV reports, the rising water levels crossed the danger mark, causing flooding in nearby areas. As a result, images of the iconic Red Fort emerged, revealing the river reaching the walls of this historic site.

In response, internet users shared comparative pictures that depicted how the Yamuna River used to flow near the back wall of the Red Fort in the past. On Twitter, a user named Harsh Vats shared images of the flooded Red Fort and a Mughal-era painting depicting the same area in the past.

The user captioned the post, stating that a river never forgets and eventually returns to reclaim its floodplain. Even after decades or centuries have passed.
