The locals of the Lendu village in Odisha are facing issues of water crisis for some time. To get over this acute crisis, the villagers came together and started digging a pond. Though their goal was completely different, they found an unbelievable and extraordinary sculpture while digging the Sana Santa pond. It was quite a fascinating discovery for the residents of Lendu village as they unearthed some valuable things while digging out the village pond.

Lendu village is a small village in Puri. This place comes within the Kanas block. The villagers came forward to dig the Sana Santa pond, according to a report by Odisha TV. They were surprised and elated to find such grand ancient things while digging in the pond. They discovered a sculpture of Lord Buddha that seems to be from the eighth century. The sculpture of Lord Buddha is a headless statue. Along with the statue, they also dug out some ancient jewellery pieces. The pieces of jewellery are made using stones from a long time back. They found the stone jewellery while working on hollowing the pond in the village.

A Team Of Experts Identified The Sculpture & Jewellery Unearthened By The Villagers

Finding something so precious and extraordinary was indeed a magnificent experience for the villagers of Lendu village. After discovering these valuables, a team of experts took a look at all the findings. After knowing about it well, they declared that the headless statue of Lord Buddha is from the eighth century.

Odisha TV reported the villagers’ reactions to the ancient findings. A villager shared how they unearthed the sculpture of Lord Buddha first while digging the pond. He further added that they found more articles from the past after they dug more. Another resident added that there is a chance of these sculptures belonged to the Puri King from a long time back. Many villagers heard from their elder family members that there was a King here from many centuries back. They are guessing that these are belongings of the King of Puri.
