Aaditya Thackeray: I Love Politics, Got Into It By Choice

Aaditya Thackeray

Coming from one of the most remarkable political backgrounds in Maharashtra, politics was in Aaditya Thackeray’s blood. And he got into this field by choice. He elaborated more about that on this lovely episode of Sunday Brunch with our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani.

Aaditya Thackeray Loves Indian Politics

While chatting about his college life, Kamiya was curious to learn whether he had plans to study abroad. Aaditya mentioned he did make extensive plans for it. He was to study overseas and then return. However, he elaborated that the political and historical subjects he would pursue there are dissimilar from the political state of India.

He said, “The thought was, if I go there and study something which is so disconnected from us, I wouldn’t want to get back into politics.” Meaning, if he was immersed in the ideologies of some other country then it would be challenging for him to understand the politics of India. Especially when Indian politics has changed so much over the years. Therefore, Aaditya and his family decided against abroad studies.

Another factor that made him stay in India was his love for Indian politics. Aaditya told us, “I love politics, I got into it by choice!” Even though he was bound to step into his grandfather’s (Bal Thackeray) and father’s (Uddhav Thackeray) shoes, it was his choice to join Indian politics.

Kamiya then asked our guest if it was also his childhood dream. Aaditya told us that he kind of always wanted to be in politics as it was his calling. He shared with us that having a career in politics and reaching out to so many individuals from different walks of life is a tremendous opportunity for him.

Ultimately, he joined his family and has been doing his bit for Maharashtra ever since. Currently, he is an MLA and represents Worli at the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. He is also the President of Yuva Sena which is a youth wing of Shiv Sena (UBT).
