“Aam Khao Inaam Paao” Bihar Hosts Mango Eating Contest Featuring Speed-Eating & Exotic Mangoes

Every year, India welcomes the mango season with much pomp and joy and bids it a tearful goodbye only to look forward to the next year with the same eagerness. To celebrate the mango season to the fullest, Bihar has a state-level mango festival. The state hosts a unique mango eating contest that features speed eating and even exotic mangoes on display. It’s Aam ki Baat!

Bihar To Host Mango Eating Contest

Gyan Bhawan in Patna, Bihar witnessed scores of mango lovers eagerly arriving to grab a bite of the king of fruits. The three-day state-level mango festival had a mango-eating contest. “Aam Khao Inaam Paao” (Eat mangoes, get rewards) is the tagline of this contest. This 3-day event till June 18 was organised by the Directorate of Horticulture, Department of Agriculture.

A video shared on Twitter by AIR News has many contestants— mostly men— sitting around a table and eating mangoes with their hands. Plates filled with fresh, juicy mangoes are placed in front of them. The men, carefully peel them with their hands and chew on the juicy slices as quickly as they can. In the background, there’s an announcement that only 10 people will be qualified for the second round in this annual mango-eating contest. There were also mango-eating contests held for kids.

Exotic Mangoes On Display, A Selfie Point & More

Another tweet by AIR News has a host of pictures from the event. It’s supplemented by the caption that reveals the participation of farmers and representatives of the food processing industry from different parts of Patna. A selfie point with an animated mango figurine looks fun. While a beautiful “I Am At Aam Mahotsav Bihar 2023” physical hoarding with a captivating painting for a mango farmer looks stunning.

Moreover, different varieties of mangoes from all over India are beautifully displayed at the festival. The most expensive mango variety, the red-hued Miyazaki was also on display. Also, other mango varieties grown in the state were also exhibited. Looks like the mango-eating contest and the mango festival certainly spread its deliciousness across Bihar.
