In a tragic incident, a 26-year-old Instagram influencer from Mumbai, Aanvi Kamdar, lost her life after falling into a gorge at Kumbhe waterfall near Maharashtra’s Raigad. The incident occurred on July 16 during a trip with seven friends. Aanvi, an avid traveller known for her passion for monsoon tourism, slipped and fell into a 300-foot-deep crevice around 10:30 am.
Aanvi Kamdar Loses Life In A Gorge Accident
In a tragic accident, Aanvi fell into a deep crack at around 10:30 in the morning. The Coast Guard, Kolad rescue team, Maharashtra State Electricity Board employees, and local authorities all provided extra assistance to the rescue team as they hurried to the scene. Local authorities also responded to the emergency promptly.
According to NDTV, a rescuer described the challenging conditions, stating, “As soon as we reached the spot, we realised that the girl had fallen nearly 300-350 feet. Even after reaching her, it was difficult to get her up, as she was injured and it was raining heavily. So we decided to get her out using a vertical pulley.”
Aanvi was brought out of the gorge safely at the end of the six-hour rescue operation. She arrived at the Managaon sub-district hospital, but soon after, she passed away from her serious injuries from the fall.

Rescue Mission Ends In Tragedy
Since then, local authorities—including the Tehsildar and Managaon police inspectors—have released an appeal pleading with visitors and residents to put safety first when touring the picturesque Sahyadri ranges. They emphasised the significance of travelling responsibly and abstaining from dangerous behaviours that might put lives in jeopardy, as per the NDTV reports.
Her untimely death has left her followers and the social media community in shock and mourning. Condolences poured in on her last Instagram post, with many expressing disbelief and sorrow.
One follower wrote, “I can’t believe it. This is deeply saddening and has kept me up all night. She was one of the kindest people I knew.” Others urged for respect and empathy, remembering Aanvi for the joy and positivity she brought into their lives.
Aanvi Kamdar’s tragic passing is a sobering reminder of the need for caution and safety while enjoying the beauty of nature.
