As a result, to cater to the rising demand of travellers, especially in the Indian sector, three new direct flights to major Indian cities have now been announced. On Tuesday, August 20, Abu Dhabi Airport announced direct flights to three Indian cities. Yes, these direct flights will be servicing the cities of Mangaluru, Tiruchirapalli, and Coimbatore. As announced by the airport authority, the additional direct flights will be operated by the budget Indian carrier IndiGo, which also services 13 flights from the Emirate to several Indian cities.

As it happens, this expansion is not just for the addition of flights as mentioned in a report by Khaleej Times. The aim is to create accessible links for family and friends while also opening new pathways for businesses.

It’s worth mentioning that this announcement of the new direct flights came when the Abu Dhabi Airport reported a rise of 33.5% in the number of passengers. Yes, the Zayed International Airport alone facilitated more than 13.7 million passengers, which accounted for this increase in passenger numbers.
