While scrolling on your social media feed, have you also chanced upon advertisements by anonymous accounts that declare how they can get you a 90% discount on traffic fines? Well, if you have, then you must beware! We say this because Abu Dhabi Police has issued a warning for citizens and residents. Yes, they have asked them to beware of such fraudulent advertisements, as they are scammers who are often promoting a significant reduction in the penalty amount.
Abu Dhabi Police Cautions Against Scam Websites
As revealed by the Abu Dhabi Police, citizens and residents have been asked to beware of scam websites that are anonymously promoting a significant reduction in traffic fines. These are false claims and are basically fraudulent websites, with some even making claims of offering discounts up to 90%. As mentioned in a report by Khaleej Times, some even claim to cancel vehicle impoundment and removal of black points from driver’s records.
However, the authority has asked people to remain cautious about such websites, and they must not fall victim to their deceptive online services. After all, they peddle false information related to traffic services, police and bike registration. Basically, their aim is to defraud people! So, it is always advisable to obtain information about such details from official channels.

Services Not Affiliated With Authorised Departments
Since most of these scammers always boast about their ability to get a significant reduction and find or even get vehicle seizure cancellations, Abu Dhabi Police has again mentioned that the services are not affiliated to any official police, vehicle registration, or traffic department.
So, it is very important that people do not fall for such fraudulent advertisements. Abu Dhabi Police mentions that responding to these fraudulent tactics only leads to exploitative results, as the motive was clearly to deceive the victims. Hence, the public has been urged to be extra cautious to protect their personal information.
Always Verify Such Information & Websites
As it happens, the police also mention how it is important to verify such information before publishing or sharing the same. They have mentioned how official updates will always be from official channels. So media personnel have also been asked to exercise caution and to refer to a recognised official channel before publishing any claims. Finally, it is very important to report suspected fraud. Using the Abu Dhabi Police smart app, you can make use of the service and report any suspicious fraudulent activities by contacting the toll-free number 8002626.
