We all know International Children’s Day is celebrated on Nov 20th, but UAE does it differently. UAE celebrates Emirati Children’s day on 15th March. And to commemorate this event, Abu Dhabi was painted in purple last night. Some iconic landmarks of Abu Dhabi lit up in Purple to commemorate Emirati Children’s day.

Emirati Children’s Day is observed annually on March 15 to make people more aware of children’s rights. This is also a reminder to people that children ought to have the opportunity to develop in a safe, peaceful environment.
Abu Dhabi, every year continues to support youth in different aspects of their lives to grow and become resourceful future citizens. Apart from lighting up the iconic landmarks, Abu Dhabi also hosted certain learning programmes for the future of the UAE. The buildings included were Khalifa university, Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental, Abu Dhabi City Municipality, Adnec’s Capital Gate building, Four Seasons Hotel and ADNOC building.
To commemorate the day, a number of celebrations and events are planned around the Emirates.

A 10-day training course was arranged for child welfare experts in both municipal and federal agencies. Only the ones who satisfy the requirements of the Child Rights Law and its executive rules were concluded by the Ministry of Community Development.
Children were allowed free entry at the Al Ain Zoo on March 15, in honour of Emirati Children’s Day.
Emirati Children’s Day was honoured by the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children with a fun-filled event. The occasion was conducted to show support for the wise leadership of the UAE, who consistently put up a great effort to care for the next generation.
Etisalat and Du, two UAE network providers, recently renamed themselves. Where the network name often appears in the upper left corner of mobile screens, the message “March 15-ECD” is visible.
Emirati Children’s Day was established on March 15, 2016, to align with the introduction of the Wadeema Law. It attempts to spread knowledge about protecting children’s rights. Hence to support the cause and exemplify their dedication, several buildings in Abu Dhabi had purple lights during Emirati Children’s Day this year.
