Stand-up comedy is an art we all respect and like to watch. In fact, there are certain comedians who sell enough tickets to book an entire auditorium. Abu Dhabi Comedy Week brought these comedians together, made a debut on Yas Island and broke records!
Abu Dhabi Comedy Week Breaks Records!
With great success, the first Abu Dhabi Comedy Week concluded its hilarious celebration of humour this past weekend. This fantastic presentation of some of the top comedians in the world enthralled visitors. In fact, the event drew over 40,000 spectators! From May 18 to May 26, this ground-breaking event took place at the renowned Etihad Arena on Yas Island.
Not to forget, Dave Chappelle’s wild performance was clearly one of the week’s major highlights too! The funny comic is well-known for his sharp humour and cultural critique. He played to an entirely sold-out crowd, solidifying his reputation as a comedy icon. His distinct sense of comedy had the crowd in stitches throughout an evening filled with perceptive observations and cutting satire.
In another first for the globe, comic legends Maz Jobrani and Bassem Youssef collaborated to create a hilarious presentation. Their unprecedented ability to offer audience-resonant cultural satire was showcased in this thrilling sold-out concert.
The Event Included A Line Up Of Comic Giants!
Andrew Schulz triumphantly returned to the Etihad Arena with his critically acclaimed The Life Tour. The event was the first time that Aziz Ansari and Tom Segura had visited Abu Dhabi, which further increased the anticipation. The positive reactions to both acts demonstrated the broad spectrum of comic ability present at the event.
Irish comedian Tommy Tiernan wrapped up the weekend with a hilarious performance that had the crowd laughing nonstop. Joanne McNally, an Irish comedian and actress recently seen on the popular TV programme Taskmaster, was a special guest. With razor-sharp humour, spirit, and wit, the evening of comedy was one to remember.
Last but not least, comedy lovers had the opportunity to see the eclectic Jo Koy live! He is known for his approachable humour and dynamic stage presence.
