It was recently announced by the Khaleej Times that operations will begin on November 1 at Terminal A of Abu Dhabi International Airport. As it happens, Etihad Airways will commence the ceremonial flight on October 31, which is ahead of the official opening for the public. So, over the period of two weeks, airlines will then transition to Terminal A. It is expected that this airport terminal is going to be triple in size, as compared to the previous facility. As a result, it will have a higher capacity for handling passengers, as compared to the previous terminal and it will also be able to handle more than 75 planes.

As a result, these will assure passengers to rest and relax as they wait to board their flights. Moreover, there will be a high-quality hotel with 138 keys!

And this point, it’s worth mentioning that once this terminal opens, it will be the in the world to include nine biometric airport touchpoints. Yes, it will be offering biometric solutions that will be installed at self-service bagdrops, boarding gates and immigration eGates during the first phase. After this, it will be able to utilise face recognition technology for screening passengers. The $3 billion project is certainly a much-awaited one, as it has nearly been seven years in the making.

So, once this airport opens, it will be able to 45,000,000 passengers every year and even process 11,000 travellers every hour!
