According to a report by the Khaleej Times, this move has simplified the process of buying these discounted food items and there is no need to renew the food commodity card as well. So, citizens who want to use their Emirates ID card to purchase these subsidised food items can drop by certain outlets in Abu Dhabi, where they can purchase these items. These addresses are as follows –

Municipality storage facilities (Muroor – Mussafah)

Who Is Eligible For Food Commodity Card?
The biggest question that arises, is who is eligible for such services. Well, residents can request to purchase food items and products at discounted prices if they are UAE nationals who are residing in the emirate of Abu Dhabi. Yes, this rise in food card issuance is only limited to them. At this point, it should also be mentioned that they are disbursed to beneficiary families having the card throughout the month without having to determine a specific date for entitlement.
In case you’re wondering who can apply for this card, they are as follows –
- Children of mothers, who are married to non-citizens can be added to the card, as they are often recognised as children of the female citizens. However, they will have to submit a few required documents.
- Children of divorced women can also be added to the cards, if the mother is the guardian, upon submission of the necessary documents.
- A card can be suspended or cancelled if it is misused or used with violations.
- It is allowed to issue cards for purchasing subsidised and discounted food to an unmarried customer who has a separate family book.
- Finally, if the card delivery is requested, a delivery fee of AED36.75 is applicable.
