If buying an electric car, it comes along with issues like charging stations and range. Abu Dhabi has a solution. A new superfast EV charging station has opened on the main highway linking Abu Dhabi and Dubai, and it has been crowned as the world’s 6th largest EV Charging station.
UAE’s Largest Superfast EV Charging Station Opens On Abu Dhabi–Dubai Highway
The site at Saih Shuaib along the E11 motorway features 60 high-speed charging points. Most electric vehicles can charge from zero to 80 per cent in just 20 minutes. Imagine getting your car charged in the time it takes you finish your coffee.
According to reporting by The National, this EV charging hub ranks as the largest superfast EV charging station in the Middle East, Africa and Turkey.
Why This Location Changes The EV Conversation
Abu Dhabi–Dubai corridor handles enormous daily traffic, from commuters to logistics fleets to weekend travellers. This major charging hub solves a real problem in the UAE.
Long-distance EV travel only works when drivers trust the infrastructure. Sixty chargers, operating at high speed, create that trust and push people to switch to EV cars. Hence, it leads people to entrust the system to simply charge and go.
Part Of A Much Bigger Charging Push
With this new station, plans are already in motion to roll out 20 EV charging hubs across UAE motorways by the end of 2027. Fifteen of those are expected to be operational by the end of 2026.
The UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure wants half of all vehicles on the country’s roads to be battery-electric by 2050. Industry forecasts show the gap clearly. By 2035, demand could reach 45,000 charging points nationwide.

More Than Charging, This Is A Full-Service Stop
The station introduces the first “The Hub” concept. It’s a new service model designed for how people actually travel today. These sites are roughly three times larger than traditional stations and combine fuel, EV charging, food options, and lifestyle services in one place.
There is even a co-working space for drivers waiting on a charge, which turns downtime into usable time.
Switching to EV depends on the infrastructure people can see, use, and trust, and the UAE is taking one step at a time to build that.
