The first third of Ramadan was a great milestone for transport services in Makkah. Over 31 million people travelled in shuttle buses and the Makkah Bus network to the Grand Mosque. During this duration, more than 2,300 buses made about 700,000 journeys.

The authorities indicate that the system has served to ease the congestion in the central area and enhance the movement of pilgrims and the inhabitants, in particular, during the busy prayer times. The efficiency was also enhanced by a better coordination of traffic, which saved the evacuation time of the stations by over 26 per cent.

Saudi Civil Defence has released the new instructions on how the national early warning platform in the country functions. The system transmits the emergency alerts to the mobile phones and activates the public sirens in case of hazards like extreme weather or safety risks.

Governments recommend citizens to remain composed, take orders issued by the official sources, and relocate to secure areas of houses that are not near windows in case of warnings.

5. UAE Alerts People On Fraudulent Calls

The Ministry of Interior in the UAE has released a statement regarding fraudsters operating against the residents. This is because scammers are reportedly sending messages or making calls in the guise of representing authorities in the government. Such messages usually seek very sensitive information like bank accounts, passwords, or one-time verification codes.

The authorities have encouraged citizens not to disclose personal financial information and should not open suspicious links. Those who get such messages are encouraged to disregard the messages and file a report to the authorities.
