On Wednesday, January 14th, an Etihad Airways plane hit turbulence just as it was preparing to land at Phuket International Airport. Although it is being reported that none of the passengers onboard were injured, it seems to have been quite a bit of a Turbulence. Here’s what happened.
Etihad Airways Flight Encounters Turbulence Before Landing In Phuket
An Etihad Airways flight, which departed from Abu Dhabi, contacted the Phuket Airport’s medical division that flight EY416, which was arriving from Abu Dhabi, had encountered turbulence. However, the airline was unsure at the time if the passengers had been injured during the turbulence. As a result, in response to the incident as reported by the Straits Times, the airport quickly made preparations and coordinated with Narenthorn Rescue Centre and related networks to ensure readiness.
Airport Was Ready To Rescue The Passengers
The aircraft parking spot number 15 was prepared to accommodate the situation, and the firefighting and rescue personnel were also on standby. In fact, the on-ground staff were also ready to provide immediate assistance to the passengers and crew in case the need arose. As the flight safely landed at 11:50 AM, the airport officials were able to confirm that none of the 160 passengers on board were injured.

Etihad Airways Names Safest Full-Service Airline For 2026
In fact, it was recently that Etihad Airways was named the safest full-service airline for 2026 by Airlineratings.com. It left behind more than 320 global competitors to secure this top spot. As it happens, it has also become the first Gulf carrier to claim this very spot in the annual safety rankings. The ratings credited the airline’s young and modern fleet, advanced cockpit, safety systems, crash-free history, and strong turbulence management, and the lowest incident rate per flight for its ranking.
