It was just on Sunday night when Etihad Airways and Emirates announced that they had cancelled and rescheduled several flights to the United States. The reason for this is that powerful winter storms are sweeping across the Northeast. As a result, blizzard has ended up causing travel bands, flight suspension and widespread shutdowns across major cities. New Jersey, Boston, and New York are some of the cities that are affected.
Flights To The USA Affected By Adverse Weather
As of Monday morning, on February 23rd, Emirates and Etihad Airways have cancelled additional flights to and from the United States of America. This is being done, as up to 60 cm of snow has been predicted, and strong winds have reduced visibility to near zero.
Emirates & Etihad Airways Flights Affected
It was confirmed by Emirates, the Dubai-based airline, that multiple cancellations have happened between February 22nd to 24th. Due to the severe snowstorm conditions that are affecting New York, Newark and Boston, several services have been cancelled. The cancelled services are for the following:
- Dubai & New York
- Athens & New York
- Dubai & Boston
- Milan & New York
As it happens, passengers who are connecting to New York, Newark or Boston on cancelled flights will not be accepted, as revealed in a report of the Gulf News. The airline has therefore advised people to contact travel agents for rebooking. And those who have booked directly through the website can reach out to Emirates.

Moreover, blizzard warnings have been issued across Long Island, New York City, and Boston. States, including those of New Jersey, Delaware, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island, have declared a state of emergency. With thousands of flights being cancelled ahead of the storm, travellers have been advised to check with their airlines before they head for the airport.
