Etihad Rail To Begin Passenger Operations Between Abu Dhabi & Fujairah From This Date In June

Etihad Rail has announced that it is all set to launch the operational phase for passenger service from June onwards. Yes, it has been mentioned how this would begin on June 30th, and it is going to be a milestone moment for the much-awaited public transport project. Here’s all you need to know about the development relating to the public mode of transport.

As revealed by The National News, the first route will run between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah. This journey would take one hour and 45 minutes, as confirmed by the authorities. Train stations in Dubai and Al Dhaid are expected to open on September 30th. This is a part of the wider rollout for the country’s infrastructure scheme. It should be noted that the Al Dhafra Train Station would also open to the public on September 30th, and the Sharjah station will begin operations on March 30th.

This comes just after Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed, who is the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, inaugurated the Mohamed bin Zayed City Passenger Train Station in Abu Dhabi on June 23rd.

What About Tickets?

Coming to the ticket prices, fares from Abu Dhabi to Fujairah will start at AED55 for Comfort Class. And it would cost AED120 for the Premium Class. The inaugural route on the network connects passengers from the Mohamed bin Zayed City Passenger Train Station in Abu Dhabi to the Fujairah Station, which is in Al Hilal City. It should be noted that the Fujairah Station was the first one to be completed, and it has been designed with a strong access link in mind.

It’s just located 12 km from Fujairah International Airport and is five minutes from the Sakamkam Fort. With vast land surrounding the station, it is bound to become a major residential district in the future.

Etihad Rail Has A Fleet Of 13 Trains

Currently, Etihad Rail has a fleet of 13 trains. Each of these trains has a capacity to carry 400 passengers. Customers can book their journeys and purchase tickets through convenient channels. These include the Etihad Rail mobile application and the official website. With frequent trains expected on the Abu Dhabi to Dubai route, the route to Fujairah is bound to boost tourism and access to the east coast.

It is expected that the passenger service will be operated by Etihad Rail in partnership with Keolis. The new train stations feature a wide range of amenities. These include everything from Eateries to retail outlets, it’s bound to make travelling a lot of fun for residents and visitors.
