Become a responsible citizen of your country. How? A green driving licence is the answer. Emirates Driving Company (EDC), with its headquarters in Abu Dhabi, and climate-tech startup CarbonSifr, with its headquarters in Dubai, have signed a memorandum of understanding. Abu Dhabi has recently introduced a green driving licence package.

In accordance with the EDC’s agreement, the climate-tech solution will show the total amount of carbon released during the application process for a driver’s licence, from opening a file to attending driving lessons.

Co-founder and CEO, Onur Elgun, of CarbonSifr, said that with EDC, when one applies for a driving licence, they calculate the total emissions of the vehicles throughout the process. This is during the practise sessions, from application to driving.

The end users are informed about the same and given the option to turn their driving licence green. This is then connected with high-quality carbon removal projects. Onur Elgun explained it to the Khaleej Times.

Through its technological solutions, CarbonSifr assists companies in measuring their carbon footprints and offers them AI-powered suggestions and options to cut and eliminate their emissions.

Its technological solutions are incorporated into customer-facing web platforms and company touchpoints that communicate information about carbon footprints and provide customers with the choice to make a more environmentally responsible purchase by paying a little extra.

The extra money, which must be paid by the client, the business, or both, will go towards an environmental project. This includes planting mangroves or carbon sequestration, among other things.

CarbonSifr’s co-founder and CEO, Onur Elgun, said that the company aids companies in including customers in the process of taking climate action. (green driving license)

The CarbonSifr technology can be used to determine the emissions of a cab ride or even when placing a meal order. The type of vehicle and the distance traveled are taken into account when calculating emissions. The technological solution will therefore display the price of reducing carbon footprints by including it in the final bill.
