In a significant move to bolster tourism and stimulate economic growth, the Delhi government has officially approved round-the-clock operations for restaurants located in Aerocity, a prominent hospitality hub adjacent to the Indira Gandhi International Airport. Aerocity, already recognised for its upscale accommodations—including numerous four-star and five-star hotels—will now extend its vibrant dining options to operate 24/7. According to the Economic Times, this change is expected to attract a larger influx of tourists while simultaneously increasing the government’s revenue through heightened licensing fees.

Chief Minister Atishi emphasised that this new operational model is designed not only to enhance visitor experiences but also to contribute significantly to the state’s financial growth. As per the Economic Times reports, “By offering diverse dining choices around the clock, we aim to make Aerocity a key destination for both leisure and business travellers,” she stated.

The initiative aligns with a successful policy implemented in neighbouring Gurugram, Haryana, where restaurants have benefitted financially from operating extended hours. The positive impact on revenue in Gurugram serves as a promising precedent for Delhi, illustrating how flexible operating hours can lead to increased patronage and, subsequently, higher profits.

In addition to the restaurants in Aerocity, the Delhi government recently approved 24-hour operations for an additional 111 shops and commercial establishments, according to the Economic Times. This sweeping change signals a progressive shift in the capital’s approach to commercial activity, aiming to create a bustling environment that caters to the needs of a diverse population, including late-night travellers and early risers.

As Delhi embraces this 24×7 operational model, it not only opens the doors to greater culinary exploration but also reinforces its position as a vibrant metropolitan area committed to enhancing the visitor experience. With its strategic initiatives, the Delhi government is poised to transform Aerocity into a dynamic epicentre of hospitality and entertainment.
