Pakyong Airport To Restart Operations
Following a six-month break, flying services at Sikkim’s Pakyong Airport will resume on March 31. SpiceJet will run two flights, one from Kolkata and one from New Delhi. The airline will operate five days a week on the New Delhi-Pakyong route in addition to daily flights between Pakyong and Kolkata. These trips will be served by 78-seat aircraft. The airport, which has a tabletop runway, had its operations suspended six months ago for operational reasons. The process of resuming flight operations was delayed due to continuing airport maintenance; however, the work has finally been finished.
Regarding the flights, at 8.05 AM, the Kolkata flight will take off, and arrive in Pakyong at 9:35 AM. From there, it will leave at 10.30 AM and arrive in Kolkata at 12.10 PM. Just in time for the summer holidays, when many tourists usually visit the Himalayan state, these renewed flight services have been announced. As one sets foot in Sikkim, they are greeted by a breathtaking panorama of towering mountains and verdant forests that stretch as far as the eye can see.
This time of year gives clearer skies and unhindered views of the spectacular mountain peaks, including the well-known Kanchenjunga, the third-highest peak in the world, as the winter haze dissipates.
