After A Complaint, Greater Noida Cops Busts A Fake Protein Supplements Factory; Finds ₹50 Lakh Worth Of Products

Supplements have a significant impact on one’s body. People should be very vigilant about the things they buy online and about their authenticity. One such incident happened to a man in Noida, as his health was drastically affected. A resident of Noida, Atim Singh, ordered a popular brand’s protein supplements from an online firm. However, when he consumed the supplement, he fell ill, and upon getting examined, he learned that he had stomach and liver issues and also faced breakouts.

Atim became wary of the product and filed a complaint with the Noida Police. The police filed a First Information Report (FIR) under BNS Section 318(4) for cheating and the applicable parts of the IT Act, as reported by The Indian Express.

As the investigation continued, police located a factory in Sector 86 in Greater Noida where the supplement was manufactured. A Food Safety and Drug Administration Department team and a police unit raided the site.

Shakti Mohan Avasthi, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Greater Noida), said that three men were taken into custody after they were discovered packing empty boxes with fake protein powder that was marked “The Athlete’s Complete Nutrition,” as reported by The Indian Express. When the police found the men without licenses, they notified the Food Safety Team.

Fake Factory Selling Fake Supplements Got Busted

Protein boxes, capsule boxes, wrappers, powder sacks, packaging machines, printing machines, and seals were among the substantial quantities of goods valued at ₹50 lakh that were recovered, according to the DCP.

Residents of Ghaziabad, Sahil Yadav, Harsh Aggarwal, and Amit Choubey are charged with operating a fake factory that produces fake food supplements. These men allegedly sold supplements for four to five times the going rate on internet marketplaces, according to the authorities, as reported by The Indian Express.

Police learnt during questioning that Sahil was employed at Advance NutraTech in Haryana from 2017 to 2018. After mastering the fundamentals, he established his own company and joined forces with Harsh and Amit to create fake food supplements using less expensive raw ingredients. To find out if there are more people involved in the racket, the matter is still being probed.
