We all plan our travels, getting influenced by social media content,t but imagine helping a state tourism board find a hidden gem with an X (formerly Twitter) post! Industrialist Anand Mahindra did just that recently! A few days back, he shared a post by X user Aaraynsh (@aaraynsh), which featured pictures of Kanhakund, a rock formation in Odisha. Soon after, Odisha Tourism responded and sent a team to Kanhakund to verify its actual position.
Odisha Tourism Plans To Develop Kanhakund Into A Tourist Destination
According to Deccan Herald, Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, who is also the head of the Tourism Department, said the state government will develop Kanhakund as a global tourist destination now. Kanhakund is a natural rock formation on the River Ib. It is located in Sundergarh district, about 130 km from Sambalpur and Rourkela.
Pravati Parida revealed that she had already issued an order for the spot verification of the place. A team of officials will soon reach the tourist destination to better understand the spot.
On February 25, X user and content creator Aaraynsh (@aaraynsh) posted a series of pictures of Kanhakund and called it “the Grand Canyon of Odisha”. Anand Mahindra soon reshared the post and tagged the Odisha Tourism board, asking them, “What can we do to make this first a national destination and then a global hot spot???”
