The Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT) announced on 15 October that the capital would soon boast this immersive marvel, promising a venue that’s much more than just concerts and events. With an expected capacity of 20,000, the Sphere will host thrilling shows and innovative experiences all year, setting a new bar for entertainment in the region.
Abu Dhabi Takes Centre Stage With The Sphere
Though the exact location of the Sphere remains a mystery, DCT hinted at it being built in a “prime spot” in the emirate. This new venue aims to become the latest must-visit destination for both residents and tourists, blending cutting-edge technology with unforgettable performances.
A Partnership To Change The Game
Abu Dhabi’s DCT is collaborating with Sphere Entertainment to make this ambitious project a reality. As part of the deal, DCT will pay a franchise initiation fee to utilise Sphere Entertainment’s exclusive designs and proprietary tech. The result? A one-of-a-kind experience on par with its Vegas counterpart.
While DCT Abu Dhabi will take the reins for financing the project, experts from Sphere Entertainment will manage the development and construction process, ensuring the venue meets top-tier standards. Their team will also provide critical support for pre-launch preparations, helping Abu Dhabi hit the ground running once the Sphere opens.
