After Muscle Girl Bar That Slaps Customers, Japan Now Has An Abuse Cafe Where You Pay Waitresses To Insult You

Japan has a number of (for the lack of a better word) unique cafes and themed restaurants. From anime and cat-themed places to poo-themed establishments, Japan has no dearth of unique cafe ideas. Recently, the Muscle Girl Bar became a viral sensation on social media. Patrons paid muscular women to slap them in the face. Now, another similar cafe is going viral where instead of physical abuse, you get verbal abuse!

After Muscle Girl Bar, Japan Now Has An Abuse Cafe!

According to an article which was recently published by the South China Morning Post or SCMP, this abuse cafe was a pop-up. It set up shop from September 14 to 23, 2024, in Shibuya, Tokyo. The pop-up cafe was called Bato Cafe Omokenashi Cafe.

In Japanese, Bato means abuse and omotenashi means hospitality. Omokenashi, in turn, is a pun on the word hospitality. It was set up by Nobuyuki Sakuma, a Japanese content creator known for his foul language. He invited good-looking young women as waitresses who would abuse the patrons.

The kitchen of this cafe was helmed by the Michelin Star chef Shuhei Sawada. If you’re looking for an especially humiliating package, you could get the VIP package wherein the waitress would spank you with a slipper.

What is more, if you just want to watch other people get abused, you could get a “no abuse” card and you would receive a normal service. For those who work in customer service, this must have been quite therapeutic as not all customers are understanding.

One of the testimonies cited in the SCMP mentioned that the waitress called a patron a pig and when he proceeded to order a pork dish, she commented that the patron would be eating its own kind. Surely, this abuse cafe is not everyone’s cup of tea but there is still a market out there for it.
