After Nationwide Hunt, A 23-YO Kanpur Gamer Is Now India’s Youngest Chief Gaming Officer

In a remarkable feat that highlights the increasing recognition of gaming as a thriving profession, Shwetank Pandey, a 23-year-old from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, has been crowned as iQOO’s first Chief Gaming Officer (CGO). Emerging as the triumphant candidate among 60,000+ applicants from across India, Shwetank’s journey from a small-town gamer to a prominent gaming authority is a testament to the evolving landscape of competitive gaming. This pioneering appointment signifies iQOO’s commitment to fostering the gaming community and enhancing user experiences.

iQOO Appoints Shwetank Pandey As Chief Gaming Officer

Born into a police officer’s family in Kanpur, Shwetank’s passion for gaming and esports has been an integral part of his journey. His dedication and determination were evident when he toiled for an entire year to save up for a new phone. His dedication towards playing his favourite game, BGMI, was unbeatable. Moreover, he declined tempting promotions and even walked away from pursuing an MBA. After all, he was focused on following his passion for gaming as a career 

Expressing his elation, Shwetank shared how he feels on top of the world right now. Naturally, he also expressed his gratitude towards iQOO and the jury for providing aspiring gamers like him with such a big platform. Nipun Marya, CEO of iQOO, welcomed Shwetank into the role, stating that the DNA of iQOO is to bring in ‘I Quest On and On. He also expressed how Shwetank’s performance never lagged and the team is excited to have him on board.

An Exciting Journey Into The Gaming World

Through a rigorous selection process, Shwetank’s journey included gaming rounds, group discussions, and an audition round. Renowned figures such as Rannvijay Singha, Mythpat, and Nipun formed the jury for the selection. As the CGO, Shwetank will work closely with iQOO’s leadership team.

He will provide gaming insights to create an optimised smartphone package for gamers and collaborate with top gamers across India. In addition to earning a remuneration of ₹10 lakh, Shwetank’s role is pivotal in enhancing the gaming experience for iQOO users.

The role of Chief Gaming Officer is augmented by the appointment of 2 zonal CGOs. Aojesh Shrivastava from Delhi and Battu Nikhil Reddy (Shoutout YT) from Hyderabad have been chosen to fill these positions. They will work with Shwetank to align strategies. They will also enhance community engagement and provide exceptional gaming experiences to iQOO users in their respective regions.

The CGO role underlines iQOO’s commitment to delivering unparalleled experiences to its consumers.
