Swiggy, the food and grocery delivery app, announced the shutdown of its Minis platform by August 10, 2025. Minis is an online service designed for small businesses, allowing sellers to create their own storefronts without the need to build an entire website. It proved helpful for independent sellers, giving them access to Swiggy’s large customer base and visibility. A major advantage was that it operated as a zero-commission platform, but then why did Swiggy decide to shut it down? Read on to find out.
Swiggy’s Minis Is Shutting Down By August 10
Minis is Swiggy’s Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform for local businesses and D2C brands. However, due to intense competition in the food delivery and quick commerce sectors, the platform has struggled to generate significant revenue. According to a report by Inc42, only 5% to 10% of customers were reaching merchants’ store pages directly via Swiggy Minis, resulting in limited traction. In an email to sellers, Swiggy announced with a heavy heart that the Minis platform would soon be discontinued. The company has asked sellers to shut down their storefronts, complete any pending orders, and withdraw payments by the deadline of August 10.

This Marks The Second Shutdown After ‘Genie’
According to reports by Inc42, it had earlier suspended Swiggy Genie, its hyperlocal delivery service that allowed users to send or receive items within the city. Genie was shut down due to operational constraints. However, it has also made two recent launches: Swiggy Crew, a travel and lifestyle service app launched in June, and Swiggy Pyng, a home services platform launched in April. Minis was designed to be simple and lightweight, but staying ahead of competitors like Linktree, Dukaan, and Meta’s native storefront features proved challenging. It lacked advanced tools such as customer data tracking, inventory management, and deeper integrations.
Minis primarily focused on small sellers who relied on social media for sales. To bridge the gap, it introduced a ‘link-in-bio’ landing page, but over time, Minis’ presence within the Swiggy ecosystem diminished. For price-conscious users, Swiggy recently came up with its new offer of ₹99 Store on its main app, where one can buy a single dish at just ₹99 without any delivery charges.
