Buddha Air is all set to reconnect two culturally rich cities—Kathmandu and Kolkata—after a gap of six years. Starting from May 21, 2025, the private Nepali airline will resume its direct services between the two destinations, much to the delight of frequent flyers, tourists, and business travellers alike.
Kathmandu To Kolkata Flights To Operate Thrice A Week
As reported by News18, Buddha Air will operate Kathmandu to Kolkata flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The flights will depart from Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu at 11:40 AM and land in Kolkata at 1 PM. The return leg will take off from Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport at 1:40 PM and arrive back in Kathmandu at 3 PM.
This carefully planned schedule ensures convenience for both Indian and Nepali travellers. Whether it’s a short business trip or a quick weekend getaway, the direct connectivity will offer time-saving benefits and comfort.
According to officials from Buddha Air, the service aims to strengthen cross-border ties, promote tourism, and provide a reliable option for the Nepali diaspora residing in India.
Why The Service Was Halted
Buddha Air launched the Kathmandu to Kolkata flights in 2020 but suspended operations soon after due to the COVID-19 pandemic. International travel restrictions, low passenger demand, and prolonged border closures made it difficult to maintain the route.
Now, with global travel recovering steadily, Buddha Air has decided to resume operations. The airline is optimistic about strong demand, especially with travel trends shifting towards regional and cultural tourism.
