At Ahmedabad Railway Station, an auto driver at Ahmedabad devised a clever way to maximise his earnings while ensuring people reached their destinations. A viral X (formerly, Twitter) post pointed out how the driver picked up two different rides, one from Uber and one from Ola, and combined them into a joint ride. The post, which left netizens in stitches, is a reflection of the resourceful, albeit unconventional, transport culture common in India.

The viral post captured the instant when an Ahmedabad auto driver turned two solo bookings into a shared ride, doubling his earnings in the process and giving passengers an unplanned carpooling experience.

While some thought it was funny and a reflection of the Indian jugaad, others argued its legal and ethical implications. Ride-hailing services such as Uber and Ola follow a single-passenger booking system, so combining two rides technically goes against platform rules.

But in a country where shared autos are a common mode of transportation, this tactic was not a complete shock to the majority.
