A passenger seated on 11A has miraculously survived the tragic Air India crash that took 241 lives instantly. The flight took off from Ahmedabad Airport and was bound for Gatwick Airport in London. The survivor, Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, has suffered several injuries to the chest, eyes and feet. 

A Lone Survivor Of The Air India Crash

In a tragic Air India plane crash on 12 June, where 241 people died instantly, a sole survivor has emerged. A passenger seated on 11A, Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, a British national, survived the crash, as per Hindustan Times. He is currently being treated for injuries at the Civil Hospital in Asarwa, Ahmedabad. The 40-year-old said the trouble began just 30 seconds after take-off. He said that there was a loud noise, and then the plane crashed. Vishwash has suffered injuries to his chest, eyes, and feet.

Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter, saying he met the injured people who were on the ground when the plane crashed, along with the sole survivor, offering him support. He said, “Met those injured in the aftermath of the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad, including the lone survivor and assured them that we are with them and their families in this tough time. The entire nation is praying for their speedy recovery.”

The Air India flight, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, took off from Ahmedabad at 1:38 pm on Thursday and was headed to Gatwick International Airport in London. It crashed within minutes and burst into flames, killing 241 people. Vishwash, seated on 11A, was the only one to survive. Air India also confirmed that 242 people were on board. This included 230 passengers: 169 Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, 7 Portuguese and 1 Canadian. The other 12 were crew members.

Vishwash Kumar Ramesh Was In India To Visit Family

As per Hindustan Times, Vishwash, 40, had come to India to visit family. He was flying back to London with his brother, Ajay Kumar Ramesh, 45. Vishwash still had his boarding pass when he spoke to HT. He said when he stood up, there were bodies all around, and in a panic, he got up and ran. Vishwash also said someone grabbed him, put him in an ambulance, and brought him to the hospital. Vishwash added he had lived in London for 20 years with his wife and child. His brother Ajay was seated in a different row on the plane.

Among the other passengers on the flight was former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who has also reportedly died in the crash.
