After two months of intense rivalries, injuries, on-field banter, and thrilling matches, the Indian Premier League is finally set to conclude today, with two crowd favourites–Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans—facing off in the final at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad tonight. Ahead of the final clash, scores of fans flew from Bengaluru to Ahmedabad to cheer for their favourite team, and what unfolded on an IndiGo flight between the two cities is something fans are likely to remember for a long time.

IndiGo pilot Jaswanth Varma often shares fun and quirky in-flight announcements on his social media. On his Bengaluru to Ahmedabad flight yesterday, his inner RCB fan came out as he joked that the flight itself was essentially an RCB vs GT face-off in the air.

Being an RCB supporter himself, the pilot asked passengers on board if anyone was travelling for the IPL final, only to discover that almost the entire flight was packed with cricket enthusiasts. When he asked for a headcount of RCB supporters, the cabin erupted in cheers, and he joined in with a spirited, “Ee Sala Cup Namdu!”

“Today is a special flight for us because our departure is from Bengaluru and our destination is Ahmedabad. It’s basically RCB and GT, isn’t it?” he told passengers before takeoff. He also asked if there were any Gujarat Titans supporters on board and found just two. The pilot then wished both teams the very best for the final.

Fans Love The Mid-Air Frenzy

Many IPL and RCB fans online loved the IndiGo pilot’s enthusiasm and showered love on the post, with many calling him the coolest pilot out there.

“When your pilot turned out to be an RCBian! Ahmedabad here we come!” another enthusiastic fan who also flew in the same flight wrote.
