Air India Hong Kong-Delhi 787 Dreamliner Makes A U-Turn Mid-Flight After Suspected Technical Snag

In a recent turn of events, an Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner flight (AI-315), en route to Delhi from Hong Kong, was forced to return to Hong Kong Airport on Monday morning due to a suspected technical malfunction detected mid-air. The flight returned to Hong Kong safely; however, the exact cause is still unknown.

As per The Times of India, a Delhi-bound Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner was forced to return to Hong Kong Airport on Monday morning after a suspected technical problem emerged midway during the journey. Flight AI-315 had departed from Hong Kong and was heading to Delhi when the crew noticed the issue. As a precaution, the aircraft turned back to Hong Kong to ensure the safety of passengers and crew. However, Air India has not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident. As per the report, the aircraft landed safely in Hong Kong, but the exact cause of the issue which caused its return is yet to be known.

Just 4 Days After Deadly Crash In Ahmedabad

This incident comes just four days after a tragic crash involving another Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The London-bound flight, which took off from Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on June 12, crashed shortly after take-off. The aircraft was carrying 242 people, and tragically, 241 of them lost their lives. As per ET, the London-bound Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner had 230 passengers and 12 crew members in total. The plane crashed into a nearby medical college, killing 29 people on the ground, including five MBBS students. Only one passenger, namely Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, survived the crash, sustaining injuries.

On Sunday evening, Air India flight AI-819, flying from Delhi to Vadodara, was also forced to return to IGI Airport shortly after take-off. The landing gear issue was suspected as the problem. 

The mid-air technical issue has raised serious concerns, especially as it comes so soon after the devastating Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad.
