Air India Launches Premium Economy With A350-900 On Key US Routes; 60% Of Flights Will Boast New Or Upgraded Cabins

Air India is gearing up for a major premium economy upgrade on its key routes to the United States. From November 1, 2024, the airline’s flagship A350-900 aircraft will take to the skies on Delhi-New York JFK flights, followed by Delhi-Newark flights starting January 2, 2025. This move signifies a significant transformation in passenger experience on these crucial connections.

Air India Launches Premium Economy On US Routes

The A350 deployment marks the debut of Air India’s Premium Economy class on both Delhi-New York JFK and Delhi-Newark routes. Passengers will now have the option to choose from 24 spacious seats arranged in a comfortable 2-4-2 configuration. This dedicated cabin boasts extra legroom and other enhancements, offering a step up from standard Economy.

Air India’s A350s boast a luxurious travel experience across all cabins. Business Class features 28 private suites with full-flat beds in a generous 1-2-1 configuration. This ensures direct aisle access, privacy doors, and a personal wardrobe for each guest. In Economy Class, 264 spacious seats are arranged in a 3-4-3 configuration, providing ample legroom for a comfortable journey.

Entertainment takes centre stage with the latest-generation Panasonic eX3 in-flight entertainment system. Passengers across all cabins can enjoy over 2,200 hours of content on high-definition screens. This features a vast selection of movies, TV shows, and music from around the world.

Elevated Flying Experience For Passengers

The A350 flights will also showcase Air India’s recently unveiled signature soft products and award-winning guest enhancements. These include new chinaware, tableware, and glassware, along with upgraded bedding. Business and Premium Economy passengers can also enjoy exclusive amenity kits designed by Ferragamo and TUMI, respectively.

With the A350 deployment, 60% of Air India’s U.S. flights will boast new or upgraded cabins. The airline has been progressively replacing legacy aircraft on other routes with newer planes. These feature improved seats and in-flight entertainment systems.

This initiative ensures a consistently elevated flying experience for passengers. Notably, all non-stop flights between India (Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru) and San Francisco now utilise three class-configured Boeing 777-200LRs with upgraded interiors (except for a 3x weekly Delhi-San Francisco service). Seats on the Delhi-New York JFK and Delhi-Newark A350 flights are now available for booking through Air India’s website, mobile app, or travel agents.
