Indians love Australia. And why wouldn’t we? It is an amazing country rich in experiences, breathtaking destinations and unique cuisine. In an attempt to further improve the footfall of Indian tourists, Air India and Tourism Australia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding or MoU. Here are all of the other important details that you would need to know about this particular MoU between this Australian agency and the flag carrier of India.
Air India Signs MoU With Tourism Australia For Three Years
According to a press release which was recently shared by Tourism Australia, the MoU is signed with the aim of boosting the number of Indian visitors in Australia. The MoU is signed for a total of three years. This agreement is to sustain the positive trend of Indian visitors while Air India expands its network in this country.
The two groups will jointly work on highlighting the country as a premier tourist destination for Indians. This means that it is likely that Air India might be offering more flights to the country. As of now, it is offering as many as 17 weekly direct flights to Australia.
If reports are to go by, last year, the airline managed to carry more than a whopping 170,000 travellers to Australia. This is more than 18.5 per cent of the market share. Officials are quite hopeful about this MoU and look forward to the collaboration.
Here Is What The Officials Had To Say On The Matter
The managing director of Tourism Australia, Phillipa Harrison, says, “We have seen tremendous growth in the number of arrivals from India to Australia in recent years and we are keen for arrivals to continue to track in that direction.”
She also says, “Tourism Australia’s agreement with Air India highlights our commitment to strengthening partnerships and exploring new ways to encourage Indian travellers to plan and book an Australia holiday. We look forward to working closely with Air India to showcase Australia as a holiday destination.”
