Medical emergencies are a pain. More so if they happen during travel. In an unprecedented turn of events, a flight from New York heading to Delhi was forced off its course and ended up landing in London. According to reports, this was done due to a medical emergency on the flight. The incident took place on an Air India flight. Details about the incident are murky and not many details are known.
Medical Emergency Forces Air India Flight To Divert Course
The incident took place on the 20th of February. The flight was on its regular course from New York to Delhi when suddenly it took a turn towards the United Kingdom. It was flying over Norway when this happened.
Many details about the incident and the nature of the medical emergency are unknown. The flight, AI-102, had an emergency landing at Heathrow Airport. According to the information, the flight was expected to land at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) at 11:25 PM.
This, needless to say, did not happen as the flight’s course was diverted. Due to this diversion, the flight was delayed by almost 6 or 7 hours. According to the details revealed later on, the unwell passenger was deboarded and hospitalised. The airport was forewarned about the emergency and the ground staff was prepared to take the individual to a hospital where they could receive the necessary medical attention.

Details About The Flight
According to the little-known details about the flight, the aircraft was a Boeing 777-337 and was carrying about 350 passengers. When the emergency was apparent to the crew, they contacted the ground staff at Heathrow airport and made arrangements for the individual’s safe evacuation.
Other than this, little is known about the passenger to whom the medical emergency had befallen or whether they were accompanied by someone else. Based on the information being circulated by officials, the individual was taken to a hospital from the airport.
