How many times have you booked an Airbnb just to party with your friends? Well, we have some bad news for you. On Tuesday, Airbnb Inc. said that it will put a permanent ban on parties on properties listed on its platform. A sharp drop in reports of unauthorized gatherings since the prohibition was implemented in August 2020 prompted the decision.
A Permanent Ban On Parties
The San Franciso-based company, Airbnb Inc had introduced a ban on parties in the eye of the dangerous coronavirus, in order to prevent its spread. As a result of implementing the policy, the company noticed a 44% drop in party reports year-over-year. This is something that has encouraged the company to announce a permanent ban as the summer travel season begins. Moreover, it plans to remove its 16-person limit, allowing full occupancy of larger homes listed on the platform.

Update In The Policies During Pandemic
In 2019, Airbnb implemented stricter limits, including a ban on party houses that create neighbourhood nuisances. The company also updated its policies and removed two search filters – event friendly and parties and events allowed. The company had suspended more than 6600 guests and also some hosts for not abiding by the party bans in 2021. In the first quarter of 2022, the company reported revenues of $1.5 billion, up 70% from the same period last year. For the second quarter of the year, the company expects revenues to be roughly between $2.03 billion and $2.13 billion.
