Summers can be harsh in the UAE, making it quite difficult for people to step out during the day. Taking stock of this, Ajman has announced a new Summer Work Policy. This policy is valid for government employees and has basically allowed its public sector employees to work remotely on Fridays. Here’s all you need to know about this development in Ajman.
Summer Work Policy In Ajman
According to the new summer work policy that has just been introduced by Ajman, government employees can expect a shorter work week. Yes, offering shortened weekly hours, the new policy will be effective from July 1 to August 22. As a result, the weekday hours will be reduced by one hour. This means employees will work from 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM and it will be from Monday to Thursday.
The Work Policy To Begin From July 1
In the same breath, government entities have also announced that employees will work remotely on Fridays. With the entities directed to implement flexible internal arrangements, these will ensure that there is uninterrupted delivery of essential public services.
At this point, it’s worth mentioning that the summer working model will continue to remain effective throughout the peak heat months, and the evaluation will then determine the long-term impact and feasibility of similar initiatives for other seasons that follow. As it happens, this is a new initiative which aims to improve the quality of life for public sector employees.

As emphasised by Crown Prince Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, this is a reflection of the government’s commitment towards creating a productive, flexible, and people-centric work environment. With the aim of promoting a healthier work-life balance, it aligns with the UAE’s ‘Year of Community’ goal.
This comes after Dubai recently announced a flexible working policy for public sector employees for the summer. The initiative will begin on July 1 and will run till September 12. It aligned with the official five-day working hours, which will then be divided into two groups.
