Al Maktoum International Airport Design Revealed
According to the Instagram post by Coop Himmelb(l)au, the firm has been nominated to undertake the design of the Al Maktoum International Airport. Yes, it was revealed that the design features a structure that has a capacity to transit 260 million passengers! With five parallel runways, the airport is going to feature world-class facilities and even serve the global community. According to the pictures revealed by the firm, it mentions that architecture combines innovation with culture.
What Can You Expect From The Design?
Coming to the design, the airport is going to be more than just a building and it’s going to be a city within a city. With ample plants dotted across the area of the airport, it’s going to add a touch of green. Brightening up the otherwise white structure, if one goes by the video. Moreover, at the new airport, visitors will be greeted by the vast open space of the entrance hall. Representing the perfect fusion of the future and tradition, the architecture pushes design boundaries for a truly unique experience for the travellers.
The First Phase To Be Complete By 2032
As it happens, the airport design features a roof that lets a lot of natural light stream in. Thereby, creating a vast open space for easy movement through the terminals. Not to mention, there will be a streamlined check-in process and state-of-the-art security measures. Additionally, there will be over 400 aircraft gates and with the highest operational specifications, five-passenger terminal buildings are bound to make travelling easier for the people. Spread across 70 km² once it is fully complete, the first phase of this airport is expected to be ready within 10 years. This will be able to accommodate 150 million passengers annually! Yes, the phase 1 of the project could be completed by 2032.
