The fourth edition of the Al Marmoom: Film In The Desert Festival has finally begun. The opening was attended by Sheikha Latifa Bint Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is the Chairperson of the Dubai Culture and Art Authority. As she opened the event on January 5, Sunday, She also emphasised how Dubai attracts leading directors and talent in the film industry. Here’s all you need to know about the ongoing film festival.

Al Marmoom: Film In The Desert Festival Returns

Running till January 12, this year the theme for the Al Marmoom: Film In The Desert Festival is ‘Where Stories Come To Life’. The event hosts, interactive workshops, panel discussions, and talks with notable directors, artists, and experts from the film industry. During the opening of the event, Sheikha Latifa Bint Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum highlighted the emirate continues to enhance its global leadership through ambitious projects and initiatives, as revealed in a report by the Gulf News.

What Can You Expect?

Talking about the fourth edition of this ongoing festival, it features an immersive experience zone. Showcasing Digital artwork created with the use of artificial intelligence, there will also be inspiring murals and installations featuring renowned artists. Yes, you can expect artist like Ghaleb Hawila, Mikhail Antykov, and Abdullah Lutfi.

Additionally, there are even dedicated pavilions for workshops, seminars, and family-friendly activities. In fact, there’s also a VIP Barzah Area that showcases the diversity of artistic works. Additionally, the audience will also be able to enjoy a curated selection of 80 films that have been chosen from 240 submissions. The notable entries include everything from documentaries and animations to live-action films that have been made using artificial intelligence.

It’s Happening Till January 12th

With over 30 workshops that have been led by creatives and cinema experts, four of these have been organised by the College of Arts and Creative Enterprises at Zayed University. In fact, the festival also serves as a platform for strengthening intercultural engagement and raising awareness about the environment. Moreover, there’s also a photography competition that’s happening for all the shutterbugs.
