The third edition of ‘Al Marmoom: Film in the Desert’ festival has already begun. This year, the theme is ‘Stories At One With Nature’ and the festival will be taking place till January 21, Sunday. It’s worth noting that the festival is being held at the Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve with a slew of programmes running for the attendees.

‘Al Marmoom: Film In The Desert’ Festival Is Back

Organised by Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), this festival kicked off on January 12, Friday. With the theme this year focusing on ‘Stories At One With Nature,’ the festival certainly opens new horizons for filmmakers. As a result, it’s providing an innovative platform for them to showcase their work and diverse stories to the audiences. In fact, a slew of rich programmes of events have been scheduled, which will provide citizens and residents of the UAE with an exceptional cultural experience.

It Will Help Attendees Gain Access To 70 Films

Yes, attendees of this festival will be able to gain access to over 70 films from Emirati, Arab, GCC, and international filmmakers! Not to mention, 56 of these are a part of the Al Marmoom Short-Film Competition in which, a distinguished panel of experts from the UAE and regional cinema sector is evaluating the films across the three categories. These categories include animation, documentary, and live-action with experienced Emirati judges presiding over the panel.

What Do The Highlights Of This Festival Include?

At this point, it is worth noting that the winning film in each category will be announced during the closing ceremony on January 21. Yes, and each of them will receive AED30,000 and a commemorative trophy. It should also be noted that the festival includes 30+ workshops and 10+ panel discussions and talks with distinguished speakers and experts from the industry. Moreover, visitors will also be able to check out three exhibitions that have been inspired by the history of cinema! Yes, this includes a cinematic masterpieces exhibition, which showcases a unique collection and even features musical and heritage performances that highlight the beauty of Emirati heritage and traditional crafts.
