Alicia Silverstone Assures Her Fans She Is Alive After Mistakenly Consuming Poisonous Fruit That Looked Like Tomato

Clueless star Alicia Silverstone shocked her fans with a viral TikTok and Instagram video that shows the actress munching on a mysterious fruit in London. Unaware of the fruit, resembling a tomato, fans feared for her life as they identified it to be poisonous. Here’s more to it.

Clueless Star Alicia Silverstone Mistakenly Eats Poisonous Fruit

During a walk in London, Alicia Silverstone came across a plant on the side of a porch. Taking to Instagram and TikTok, the actress asked her fans for help in identifying the fruit. She picked up the orange-coloured tiny fruit and hurled it in front of the camera. Alicia said in the video that she needed help in figuring out the mysterious fruit.

The camera pans to show a small plant growing with red and orange coloured berries which look like cherry tomatoes. Her curiosity gets the better of her and the 47-year-old actress bites into the fruit. Filled with seeds on the inside, she shows the half-eaten tomato-looking fruit to the camera. Alicia said she bit into it as she was discussing with her loved ones whether it was a tomato or not.

“I don’t think you are supposed to eat this,” while carefully deciphering its flavour. She wonders if it’s a pepper. “Does anyone know what is this?” she ends her video. Since Alicia is in England, she hoped her fans would reveal the mystery fruit to her. However, her Instagram reel went viral in no time. It attracted over 35,000 likes and hordes of comments. With eyes peeled on the fruit, many expressed their concern about the potentially harmful effects of consuming it.

Gives Health Update Later

Many identified it to be Jerusalem Cherry. Unlike its cheery name, this fruit is actually poisonous and shouldn’t be consumed. Netizens warned that all parts of this plant were toxic. And if the fruit is consumed, it can cause symptoms like vomiting, sweating, fever, headache and increased heart rate. Moreover, these symptoms can persist for days.

Others chided her for eating “mystery fruits and veggies” out of someone else’s garden. Concerned fans wanted to know if she was alright. To this, Alicia posted a picture with the caption, “Alive and well! Don’t worry… I didn’t swallow.”

Well, in her defence, Alicia was “Clueless” about the fruit and we’re glad she is okay!
