Akasa Air welcomed its 25th Boeing 737 MAX aircraft on September 12 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad. The aeroplane was flown by an all-woman crew from Seattle, USA. All-Women Pilot Crew Bring Akasa Air’s 25th Boeing 737 Max Aircraft To India
Captain Bhavna Gandhi and Captain Sanaya Chothia brought Akasa Air’s 25th Boeing 737 MAX aircraft to India. The all-women pilot crew received the delivery of the new aircraft in Seattle on September 9, 2024. From there, they flew to Keflavik, Iceland, and concluded with the final leg of the flight from Larnaca, Cyprus, to Hyderabad, India on September 12.
With a registration number VT-YBB, Akasa Air’s new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft arrived at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad. The airline is being lauded for having an all-women pilot crew taking delivery of its new aircraft. The move also shows the airline’s commitment towards championing diversity in the flight deck. It is also interesting to note that in just 25 months of its launch, the airline has added its 25th Boeing 737 MAX aircraft to its fleet.

Airline’s Rapidly Growing Aircraft Fleet
Launched in August 2022, Akasa Air has already served over 11 million passengers and has an extensive network connecting 27 cities. The rapidly growing aircraft fleet is an example of this expansion. In 2021, Akasa Air placed its initial order of 72 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. This was followed by an order of four Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft in June 2023. Then, in January 2024, the airline placed a massive order for 150 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. So far, Akasa Air has taken delivery of 25 aircraft and is on track to receive deliveries of the remaining 201 aircraft over the next eight years.
